INTRODUCTION
We recently got our hands on some Per4m Whey Protein. We have heard amazing things about this protein, Mostly about the flavour and the price. In this article, we are going to be reviewing some of the flavours, Giving our opinions on the flavour, the Mixability and the price. We will also touch on some other things like packaging. This protein is notorious for selling out quickly, so we will update this post as we get the various flavours of Per4m Whey in.
PER4M WHEY - CHOCOLATE BROWNIE BATTER
MIXING
I don’t know if it is me but I found that the chocolate Brownie Batter didn’t mix as well as the Apple Strudel and gave a powdery taste. This might have been in my mind so I won’t say too much until I have tried even more flavours.
However, I will say that mixing it into my porridge was easy and it was fast to mix and easy to mix up. Ignoring the statement above, there was no lumps or clumps.
TASTE
The taste was, ok! Not as rich or “chocolatey” as I thought it might have been. As I have said I tend to have it in my morning porridge so adding a few squares of dark chocolate really brings out the flavour. However, it has a solid chocolate taste and you can taste the “brownie batter” effect they are going for. I just wish the chocolate taste was a bit stronger.
EFFECTS
As with the other flavour I have tried, this flavour only has 22g of protein per scoop. As I have previously said I would like to see this bumped up to 25g at the minimum. However, for the price and flavours I don’t think I can complain to much.
PACKAGING
Packaging is the same as the Apple Strudel, deep scoop and a plastic tub! Nice big tub. No complaints in the way of the packaging. Happy with it overall.
PRICE
This is where Per4m Whey overtake any other company, the quality of protein you get for the price is amazing! You won’t find 2kg of protein (of this quality) anywhere else for as cheap. Plus, finding discount codes will bring the price down even more. I pad £36.99 for tub which I would say is a great price!
PER4M WHEY - APPLE STRUDEL
MIXING
I have had no issues mixing! The Per4m Whey Mixes quick, clump-free. In my list of proteins, I have tried it is up there as one of the best for mixing. I have certainly had a protein that mixes worse. However, I haven’t had many that mix better. In oats, it mixes and blends quickly and clump-free.
TASTE
Let me start by saying, the taste of this protein is out of this world! I can now see why there was so much hype around this brand. Having it in my oats (Which is how I normally consume my whey) you get real cinnamon and pastry flavour. They have nailed that buttery pastry texture and flavour. Mixing it with oats almost gives it an apple pie kind of feel (Recipe inbound). There isn’t a huge amount of apple flavour but enough that someone can guess what flavour it is meant to be.
EFFECTS
It is a protein powder, which serves its job. I would like the protein content to be a bit higher. Would like to see the protein in the 25g range rather than the 21g’s they currently have. This is a small complaint. The calories per serving are 113, which is average or slightly more than other brands. This doesn’t worry me. As I said, I would quite happily see a higher calorie but more protein. I would sacrifice low calorie for a higher protein count.
PACKAGING
Due to the price, some corners have been cut. Not saying the packaging is rubbish but it isn’t as good as the ghost whey. The label is nice and it comes in a big tub. Nice scoop in the tub (scoop was at the top of the powder when I opened it). The scoop has a longer handle than most protein scoop. Which is useful. Overall, nothing amazing but no complaints.
PRICE
Along with the flavour, the price is another selling point that this brand has dominated. For a 2.5kg tub, you will pay £39.99. However, I used a discount code and managed to get it for £36. This is a really good price for a 2.5kg tub. The only issue is because of the lowish protein count you might find yourself going through it quickly if you consume whey often or have a high protein target. For me, I have around two servings a day. So not a bad price at all.
