Will a Detox help you lose weight? Well, to answer all these questions read below!
What is a Detox?
While it’s tempting to jump on a cleanse and companies are really great at marketing the benefits, detoxes are a waste of money if you’re using them to lose weight.
Most people opt for detoxes because they see other people losing weight quickly. However, most of the weight you’ll lose right away will be water weight by eliminating or significantly reducing carbohydrate and sodium. and reducing calories that much will likely put you in a calorie deficit, which will cause you to lose weight (duh). As soon as the detox or cleanse ends, you’ll gain the weight back. Detoxes also “work” because you go from eating like crap to eating lots of fruits and vegetables with lots of vitamins and minerals, and in reality, the body is perfectly capable of detoxing itself.
Detox: What to Remember
Remember, your body’s primary goal is to keep you alive, and it has processes in place to remove harmful toxins and waste products. After all, how do you think you’ve survived all the stuff you’ve put your body through this far in your life? Here’s one more thing – many of the companies who sell detoxes don’t even know the specific toxin their working to “detoxify” (see study in comments), and none of this is sustainable. When you deprive yourself of foods, you’re just going to want them more.
So what should you do instead?
- Eat well-balanced meals with lots of lean proteins, fresh vegetables, healthy fats and fibrous carbs all year round
- Allow yourself to have some “junk” food every once in a while – just don’t go overboard
- Consistently follow a goal-based exercise routine
- Stay lean year round
- Drink lots of water every day
If you follow these five habits, you’ll be able to “detox” and “cleanse” your body all the time!
Conclusion
Hopefully this has cleared up some questions people have about Detox’s. If you follow tase 5 tips then you will quickly realise that you don’t a detox and that they don’t work.
The most important thing to remember is that you don’t need to buy a special product, or a magical tea to lose weight. A lot of companies will use weight loss to sell their useless products. None of them work, As we all know, it is about a calorie deficit.
